La Cala Golf Resort

Fairways is situated within La Cala Golf in the spectacular Andalucian countryside amongst the foothills of the Sierra de Mijas mountain range. The resort consists of three unique Championship courses designed in 1989 by Cabell B. Robinson. Each eighteen-hole, parkland course features twisting pathways lined with avenues of trees that blend seamlessly with the natural landscape. Campo America is 6,009 metres long with a 72 par. The fairways have many hills to negotiate and the greens need your most precise putting. The oldest course is Campo Asia with a length of 5,925 metres and a 72 par. It’s a favourite amongst professional golfers who love its classic, challenging hillside design that demands excellent concentration and golfing techniques. The terrain of Campo Europa is the most gentle of the three courses, but it has the most spectacular water hazards. The River Ojén cuts through eight of the holes along the route of 6,014 metres and a 71 par. The world-class facilities of La Cala include a six-hole practice area, equipment rental and personalised coaching.
El Soto Golf

You can reach El Soto in a short, eight-minute drive. The course was designed in 2007 by Manuel Piñero, the winner of nine prestigious golf titles including the 1977 British PGA Championship. It is an ideal nine-hole, 3 par course for players of all ages and abilities. However, you’ll still need to play at your best when attempting the course as it has vastly different heights at each tee and hole. The terrain is particularly attractive with a variety of deep ditches, bunkers and water features. Many players enjoy testing the accuracy of their shots across deceptively steep fairways with lengths ranging from forty-five to eighty-five metres.
Santana Golf

This popular course is on the outskirts of Fuengirola and it’s an ideal choice if you want to play a relaxing game on fairly level terrain. It was developed on the site of an avocado plantation in 2004 by the well-known golf architect, Cabell B. Robinson. The eighteen-hole course is particularly spacious, measuring 6,207 metres and covering a total of 138 acres. The fairways are easy to walk and present a wide playing area with modest water features and bunkers. Many players love the challenge of controlling their long distance shots from the tee box, especially when there is a strong breeze blowing in from the Mediterranean.
Mijas Golf

Mijas is a seventeen-minute drive from Fairways La Cala, but it’s well worth a visit as it includes two eighteen-hole courses designed by Robert Trent Jones Senior. The plans for Los Lagos were laid in 1976 and the course features a terrain of wide fairways with gentle slopes and very few trees. The main challenge is avoiding nine hazardous lakes while attempting to reach the greens. Los Lagos is the larger of the two courses with a length of 6,536 metres. Los Olivos presents a very different challenge with several olive trees obstructing many of the narrow fairways. There are also difficult bunkers and greens with different elevations. They provide players with the opportunity to perfect a variety of short and long range technical shots.
El Chaparral

Twenty-two minutes from Fairways is El Chaparral which opened in 2006 near the coastal resort of La Cala de Mijas. The eighteen-hole course is particularly attractive as it is located in the dense, pine woodlands that form part of a protected reserve. The designer, Pepe Gancedo, incorporated the terrain’s natural features of steep hills and rocks to provide players with a variety of interesting challenges while playing towards the high-quality greens. Throughout the course there are captivating views of the mountains and the Mediterranean.
Calanova Golf

This impressive eighteen-hole course was designed by Julian Garcia Mayoral in 2006. It has a total length of 5,866 metres with a 72 par and incorporates the natural, mountainous terrain to present challenging holes with a variety of height levels. Players can experiment with different shots as they negotiate the varying widths of the fairways which are often lined with palm trees, patches of rough and water hazards. But at the end of a fascinating round of golf, you can relax on the sun terrace of the clubhouse and admire the amazing scenery of rugged mountains and a glistening Mediterranean Sea
